How to Navigate Attitude, Health, and Well-being in a Stressed-Out World
In the hustle, bustle, and stress of daily life, it's easy to overlook the profound impact our attitudes have on our overall health and well-being. This week’s energy asks us to consider this: What “bad behavior” are you willing to tolerate from others? Do you to allow someone to disrespect your time or energy, only to vent your frustrations behind their back? Or do you usually find the courage to speak up in the moment, advocating for yourself and fostering healthier relationships, without shaming or blaming the other person?
The Consequences of “Taking It”: Exploring the Impact of Attitude
These questions come to life in the complex interplay between our inner attitudes and our external experiences. Too often, we suppress our feelings when we feel violated or misunderstood, bottling up emotions until they manifest as physical ailments like auto-immune conditions or eventually explode outwardly, wreaking havoc on our relationships and well-being.
Finding Balance: Speaking Up Without Imposing our Will
At the same time, blaming ourselves for our suffering and what we might have done differently also can create more physical challenges that further exacerbate our unhappiness, and vice versa.
Likewise, speaking our truth does not mean we are “right” at all costs, that the other person is “wrong.” It doesn’t mean imposing our will or authority over others (which is exactly what we’re often upset about in the first place!). When we advocate for ourselves in a healthy way, we communicate where we feel out of alignment with our values in the situation.
For instance, recently I got into a rather dramatic discussion about the risks versus benefits of mammograms. Holy cow, what a charged topic!
My goal in speaking my truth wasn’t to impose my will or change anyone’s mind. I spoke my truth because I feel strongly that women need to be informed about their options so that they can make an educated decision about what is right for them. To me, forcing mammography on women over 40 as a mandatory, annual event goes against my core value of sovereignty. Unfortunately, others in the discussion reacted angrily to my concerns – someone even said I didn’t deserve to be a nurse! – yet I stood my ground because I was clear in my core values.

Our attitudes shape our experiences, influencing not only our health but also our relationships, career, finances, and overall quality of life. By investing in self-discovery and cultivating a positive mindset, we pave the way for holistic healing and transformation.
